This policy explains how BoxJellyfish.org researches, writes and maintains its educational content.
Source hierarchy
For medical and emergency guidance, we prefer current guidelines from resuscitation councils, government health services and public-health authorities. For zoology, we prefer peer-reviewed research, museums, universities and government science agencies. Secondary sources may provide context but should not be the sole support for a safety-critical claim.
Accuracy and uncertainty
- We link important claims to their sources.
- We use species names when advice or risk differs by species.
- We label estimates, scientific uncertainty and geographic variation.
- We avoid sensational labels when a more precise description is available.
- We do not diagnose individual readers or replace local emergency guidance.
Medical-content review
Safety articles are checked against current authoritative guidance. Unless an article explicitly names a qualified reviewer, readers should not assume it has been reviewed by a physician, toxicologist or marine-sting specialist. Independent expert review is a continuing editorial priority.
Advertising and conflicts
Advertising may fund site operation, but advertisers do not approve or control editorial conclusions. Any sponsored or affiliate content will be clearly labeled. At present, educational claims should stand on the cited evidence rather than commercial relationships.
Updates
Substantive corrections should be made promptly. Safety guidance is reviewed when relevant official recommendations change. Articles display a publication or update date where the site template supports it.
