Readers should be able to report an error privately and understand what happens next.
How to report a problem
Use the private contact form and include:
- the exact page URL;
- the statement, image, link or accessibility problem involved;
- why it may be wrong or outdated; and
- a reliable supporting source, when available.
Do not submit medical records, emergency details or other sensitive personal information. Contact local emergency services for an active medical emergency.
How reports are assessed
The reported material is compared with the best relevant sources. Safety claims are checked against current responsible authorities; taxonomy and biology claims are checked against primary literature, museums or recognized scientific institutions. A reader’s report is valuable evidence to investigate, but it is not automatically treated as proof.
What changes are recorded
- Material factual or safety correction: correct the article and explain the change when practical.
- Developing evidence: describe the disagreement or uncertainty rather than forcing a false conclusion.
- Minor repair: spelling, formatting, accessibility and broken-link fixes may be made without a separate correction note.
- No change: accurate information is not removed merely because it is inconvenient or commercially unfavorable.
Independence
Advertisers, sponsors and traffic goals do not determine whether a correction is accepted. No payment is accepted to hide a supported safety conclusion or alter the scientific record.
